Grammar is the science that deals with the correct use of language both in conversation and writing.So,if we want to excel in any language, we must have profound knowledge in Grammar.
We all speak and what we speak is called the speech. We use different words to speak and these words have different functions to do in our speech.This is called Parts of speech.
There are eight parts of speech in the English language: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. The part of speech indicates how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the sentence. An individual word can function as more than one part of speech when used in different circumstances. Understanding parts of speech is essential for determining the correct definition of a word when using the dictionary.
As we all know, there are 26 letters in the English Alphabet.The letters are divided into two parts.

CONSONANTS B C D F G H J K L M N P Q R S T V W X Y Z
These letters make words,words make sentences and sentences make paragraphs.
Let's now learn the eight parts of speech.
1. NOUN
A Noun is a word for a person, place,or thing; as Rahul, Delhi, stone etc.,
2.PRONOUN
A Pronoun is a word,which is used in place of a noun to avoid repetition.
Eg: Tommy said that HEwas happy.
Sally and Rita went to the fair. THEYwere with THEIRsisters.
3.ADJECTIVE
An Adjective is a word,which is used to qualify a noun or a pronoun.
Eg: Rita is a KIND girl.
He is a SMARTboy.
4.VERB
A Verb describes an action or A Verb says something about a person,creature, place or thing.
Eg: Jackson PLAYScricket.
Katy is DRAWING.
5.ADVERB
An Adverb is a word used to qualify the verb.
Eg: She writes NEATLY.
He is very WEAK.
6. PREPOSITION
A Preposition is a word,which is used before a Noun or a Pronoun to show its relation to something else.
Eg: She lives IN this house.
Joanna wrote a letter WITHa pen.
The basket is ON the table.
7. CONJUNCTION
A Conjunction is a joining word used to join words,phrases or sentences.
Eg: Mary looked at Sandy BUT said nothing.
She was honest SO her father gave her a fine pen.
8. INTERJECTION
An Interjection is a word, which expresses some sudden feeling
Eg: HURRAH! we won the match.
ALAS! his uncle passed away.
